What to Expect From Our Veterinary Surgical Services

When your pet needs surgery, their comfort and safety are our top priorities. From pre-surgical exams and anesthesia monitoring to post-operative care, our team takes every precaution. We offer a wide range of surgical services, including orthopedic, soft tissue, routine, and specialty procedures, all performed with state-of-the-art equipment and close attention to detail.

Soft Tissue Surgery

Soft tissue surgeries involve organs, skin, and other non-bony structures. Our pet soft tissue surgery services include:

Anal Gland Removal

For recurring infection, pain, or cancer in the anal glands.

Pyometra

GDV Surgery (Bloat)
A life-threatening emergency where the stomach fills with air and twists, requiring immediate surgical correction
Intestinal Biopsy
An intestinal biopsy is a diagnostic procedure used to examine the tissues of the small or large intestine. It helps identify the underlying cause of chronic gastrointestinal issues such as vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, or loss of appetite. This procedure is often recommended when less invasive diagnostics (like bloodwork, fecal testing, or imaging) have not provided a definitive answer

Orthopedic Surgery

Orthopedic procedures help restore movement, reduce pain, and improve the quality of life for pets with injuries or chronic conditions. We offer several specialized orthopedic surgeries, including:

Dog sitting on a bed
Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) Surgery

We are pleased to have Dr. Deluke, an experienced orthopedic surgeon, who travels to our clinic to perform orthopedic procedures.

To begin the process, we will first schedule an evaluation appointment, which includes radiographs (X-rays). These will be reviewed by Dr. Deluke remotely. After her evaluation, she will determine whether surgery is necessary.

If surgery is recommended, we will contact you to discuss next steps and schedule accordingly.

Femoral Head Ostectomy (FHO)

Removes the head and neck of the femur to alleviate severe hip pain when other options aren’t possible.

Medial Patella Luxation (Trochlear Sulcoplasty)

Deepens the groove where the kneecap rests, correcting patellar luxation and reducing stress on the joint.

Specialty Surgery

Some conditions require more advanced or rare surgical procedures. At Kennedy’s Animal Clinic, our team is trained and experienced in performing specialty surgeries that can dramatically improve a pet’s comfort and quality of life:

TECA (Total Ear Canal Ablation) Surgery

Recommended for pets with chronic, incurable ear disease that causes severe pain. This procedure removes the diseased ear canal while preserving hearing, and more than 90% of owners report significant improvement in their pet’s well-being.

Screw Tail (Tail Amputation) Surgery

Treats genetic malformations of the tail that can obstruct the anus, leading to infection, pain, and itching. Removal of the malformed tail relieves discomfort and prevents ongoing issues.

Screw Tail (Tail Amputation) Surgery

Perineal Urethrostomy

A reconstructive surgery to decrease risk of further urinary obstruction in male cats as this can be a life-threatening emergency
